Notes from the Pastor - 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
September 5, 2010
“Go make disciples of all nations, baptize them!” The month of September has always been for me a time for “Mission Awareness”. What do I mean? As with every year - parishes will begin their Education Programs; those for adults, those for children, those seeking to deepen their faith, and those thinking of becoming a member of the Roman Catholic Church. What part do YOU play in this Mission Awareness to walk in faith with others and to be the leaven for their growth in faith?
Perhaps you may be volunteering this year to help Deacon Dave with the PREP Program or Sacramental Programs - sharing your faith with our children? Yes, that is a commitment! Or maybe you will be an adult mentor and guide for our young people in the Youth Program? What a rewarding challenge! Maybe you have been called to “Walk in Faith” with a friend or family member/spouse, a parishioner wanting to “return” to practicing their Catholic Tradition of years past - what a joy to “welcome” someone back to the “Table of the Lamb” - the Eucharist - the Body and Blood of Christ.
The RCIA Program - to open the mind and heart to Jesus; “our hearts are restless until they rest in thee” (Confessions of St. Augustine). The Easter Vigil celebrates new life - “to be born again in water and the spirit” (Jesus’ words to Nicodemus in the Gospel of John). To be a part of this “Illumination” of Faith!
“To whom shall I send?” “Here I am, Lord, I’ve come to do your will!”
Mission Awareness - open your heart!
- Fr. Tom

- married to a Catholic and you attend Mass with them, and you want to share in their faith?
- seeking something in your life, but are not sure what it is?
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is the place for you. The RCIA is the Catholic Church's process whereby one could inquire about the Catholic faith and journey towards full reception into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil. Every year adults are welcomed into the Catholic Community through RCIA. It is a learning experience that will change your life and give your life new meaning and new direction.
If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a Catholic please plan on joining us for our first class on Monday, September 13 or call Deacon Dave at 414-6706 for more information.
