Ministry of LECTOR -- Guidelines
Fr. Tom Peyton, Pastor of St. Michael’s Catholic Church - Tybee Island, GA.

Thank You for embracing the Liturgical Role of LECTOR.
To PROCLAIM the “Word of God” is an honor not to be taken lightly; it is part of being the Prophetic & Teaching voice of the Church.
Here are a few thoughts for your consideration:
There are TWO guidelines I found in an Office “file” that are not procedures presently being performed by the Lector.
1) There was a guideline for the Lector to return to his/her seat in the Community after the Opening Procession.
2) The 2nd Reader was to return to the Sanctuary for reading The Prayers of the Faithful. When a Deacon is present, he reads the Prayers.
These guidelines were obviously written by someone; however, they will not be addressed until later at a Lector Workshop. But I did fine these guidelines.
