Eucharist (First Communion)

Here at St. Michael Parish we receive the Eucharist under both species of bread and wine. The decision for a child to receive the wine is one for the parents to make. Many of our children do receive the Body and Blood of Jesus.

For our senior parishioners and anyone who needs special assistance for the reception of the Eucharist, the front pews are reserved at all Masses.

Those parishioners who cannot come to the Weekend Liturgies are taken the Eucharist by our Communion Ministers during the week. Also those who are in Nursing Care facilities and Assisted Living residences receive the Eucharist by our Communion Ministers. The Eucharist is also taken to parishioners who are in the local hospitals by our Communion Ministers.

First Holy Communion is usually celebrated with our 2nd graders in the Spring. Children need to be enrolled in PREP (Parish Religious Education Program) or a Catholic school in order to receive this Sacrament.
