As a faith community, we rejoice at the birth of a new baby. Our desire is to WELCOME our newest member through the Sacrament of Baptism. Contact the Parish Office for information.
Normally, two godparents are chosen, one of whom must be a believing and practicing Catholic who is confirmed. If the Catholic godparent is not a member of St. Michael Parish, he/she must provide a letter of permission from his or her local pastor to be the godparent here.
If the parents of the baby are not members of St. Michael Parish, they will need to provide a "letter of delegation" from their Pastor for the Baptism to take place at St. Michael Church.
If the parents of the baby are not members of St. Michael Parish, they will need to attend a Baptism Preparation Program in their "home" parish and provide a "letter" from the Program Coordinator.
A Baptism ceremony can take place in a private ceremony or during Mass. The details, questions, and dates can be coordinated through the Parish Office.
An adult who desires membership in the Catholic Church is received into the Church through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. (See RCIA under Faith Formation.)
