The First Principle of Catholic Moral Theology: The Good is to be done. Evil is to be avoided!
A human person is born neither good nor evil, but they are born with the potential to become either. God gives us free will and invites us to choose goodness and love. But his gift of free will really is that gift. He will not force us to choose the good. The parable of the weeds among the wheat illustrates that there will be some people who choose the good and some who do not. We all live together on this earth, (our roots are intertwined), the good and the bad. Truth be told, we have all been on both sides. Sometimes we have chosen good and at other times, we have chosen evil. Jesus loves us a million times more than we can know or imagine, and He wants us in Heaven with him forever. He is a patient God. He continues to love us and pour his grace upon us, that we may repent of our sins and come to Him. No one is so far gone that Jesus cannot reach them, forgive them, and fix them. Never give up on anyone! Remember volunteer corn. I leave today for Boston to give a retreat to some Religious Sisters, who have been good friends to me. Sadly, Delta changed my flight time ☹ making it impossible for me to celebrate the 11:00 Mass. Fr. David Koetter will be with you for that mass. I will return to the parish on Saturday. Please pray for me and for the sisters on this retreat. God bless you, Fr. Brett Brannen Pastor
