Today as we celebrate the Ascension of our Lord Jesus into heaven, we are directed by our Lord Jesus to evangelize all people, make them disciples and teach them his commandments. Jesus ascends to the Father and promises to send the Holy Spirit to us so that we can accomplish what He asks us to do. He doesn’t leave us to flounder on our own, but in sending the Holy Spirit He gives us the tools we need to spread the faith and the joy of the Gospel. May each of us proclaim the good news by how we live our lives, in all that we say, do, and think.

th, two men were ordained to the Transitional Diaconate – they will, God willing, be ordained priests next year. During the ordination mass, they were handed the Book of the Gospels and the bishop said these words to them, “Receive the Gospel of Christ whose herald you have become. Believe what you read, teach what you believe, and practice what you teach.” We pray for them that they may continue to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ in their ministry. Please keep Deacons Drew Larkin, Chris Hassel, and Patrick May in your prayers this next year as they continue their preparation for their ordination to the priesthood.
A blessed Memorial Day weekend to all of you. This weekend and particularly tomorrow we remember all the men and women in our military who have died in defense of our country and who have died doing their duty and in the line of service. They and their families have given such a sacrifice. Let us honor them this weekend.
May you all have a safe and good holiday weekend with your family and friends!
