Hello, from vacation! It is always nice to get away for a time of refreshment and relaxation, but it is also so good to be home! I’ll be home on Monday evening, July 17
th.
Today, July 16
th, is the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. I cannot help but hold in my heart and my prayers our beautiful Carmelite Sisters of Our Lady of Confidence Monastery on Coffee Bluff in Savannah (11 West Back Street, Savannah, GA 31419).
We, here on Tybee Island, in Savannah, and in the Diocese of Savannah, are blessed to have these sisters praying for us out here in the world. Yes, that is their vocation. Each and every day at all their hours of prayers, they pray for you and for me. They pray for priests, that we be holy, happy, and healthy and good priests for the people entrusted to our care. They pray for you, the people of St. Michael’s here on Tybee. They also supply us with the hosts we need for mass!
My brothers and sisters, this is their charism, their vocation. They lead a life of prayer. They have left the world to pray for those in the world. This is what they do. This is their apostolate. Nothing can be more valuable.
Presently, there are 8 sisters out there including one Postulant, who hopefully will be a novice soon. You can learn more about them, their life of prayer, and their needs at
