Advent Adoration with Individual Confessions Monday, December 14th and Monday December 21st from 5:30pm to 6:30pm
So, how is your Advent coming along? Even though I was quarantined waiting on testing negative for Covid-19, I was please to look out my window to see what looked like good crowds attending Mass on Tuesday. Mary Immaculate will always lead us deeper into the Mystery of her son’s love. In this season of Advent, in which we celebrate the fact that God loves us so much that he came to earth to be with us, let us go to meet Him. He will be there, waiting, with His unfailing love. And this Love will set us free.
If spiritually, your Advent is off to a slow start, it is never too late to change things. I offer two suggestions: 1. Go to confessions. Over two-thirds of active Catholics find meeting the mercy of God in the Sacrament of Reconciliation to be a huge help to their spiritual growth. If it has been a while, check out my Notes from 12.8.20 for some guidance. 2. There are so many great Catholic resources online these days, explore them. Perhaps starting with the one above on Sunday night, an Advent Celebration of Hope. Taking the Gospel Home: The third Sunday of Advent is known as Gaudete Sunday. Its name is taken from the entrance antiphon of the Mass, which is: Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, rejoice. Indeed, the Lord is near. This is a quotation from Philippians 4:4-5, and in Latin, the first word of the antiphon is gaudete (“rejoice”).
What do you rejoice in today? The Gospel has John the Baptist saying to the questioners, “There is one among you whom you do not recognize. …” How about you? Do you recognize Christ in all the different faces and manners he comes to you each day?
