To my Faith Community of St. Michael on Tybee Island,
You have all been in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you have all found "safe harbor." As of 10am Monday there has been little flooding or damage on the Island. But I fear with high tide at 11:30am the worse is yet to come.
I offered my Mass this morning at St. Mary on the Hill in Augusta for all who remain on the Island especially Mayor Jason Buelterman, City Manager Shawn Gillen, Chief Bryson and all the first responders. Lord, watch over them and protect them.
A family with young children who had evacuated from Fort Myers asked me for a blessing in your Church yesterday. I feared for them that they might not have much of a home left when they returned. The Dad said, "The house is not that important. We have each other and we are safe." WOW! Stay safe everyone and pray for those who are alone. As long as we are with those whom we love, all will be well.
Love and Prayers,
Fr. Jerry
