Let us go to die with Jesus so that we can rise with Him! Today we begin Holy Week. Jesus arrives in Jerusalem to shouts of joy and adulation. Those cries of exaltation turn to cries of judgment and crucifixion in a matter of days. How fickle the people were towards Jesus! How fickle we can be towards him as well – wanting him to answer this, but not listening to Him when he speaks to us about what we may need to change in our hearts and lives. This week is the Holiest of Weeks when we journey with Jesus as he lays his life down, as he dies for us so that we can live, to redeem us and wipe away our sins. We are invited to walk with Jesus from the Last Supper to the Garden of Gethsemane to trial before the Sanhedrin to the prison in Herod’s palace to Pontius Pilate to Calvary to the cross to death to the tomb to life and the Resurrection. What a privilege to be issued this invitation! I encourage you to take advantage of this Holiest of Weeks. We will begin with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday, April 13th, at 7:00 PM. After mass, we will have time to spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament at the Altar of Repose (in the meeting room) as if we were with him in the Garden. On Good Friday, we will have Stations of the Cross at 3:00 PM and the Liturgy of the Cross at 7:00 PM. I will be in the confessional from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. The Easter Vigil will be at 8:00 PM. This liturgy begins the Easter Celebration! On Sunday at 6:30 AM there will be an ecumenical Sunrise Service at the Pier. We will offer mass at 8:00 AM, 9:30 AM, and 11:00 AM. I hope to see you there as we walk with Jesus, as we go to die with Jesus in His Passion and Death so that we can live with Him in His Resurrection and Life! Peace in Christ, Fr. Dan Firmin
