The three Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist complete a person's initiation into Christ's Holy Catholic Church. Through the Sacrament of Confirmation, the Gift of the Holy Spirit received in Holy Baptism is strengthened so that fully initiated Catholics may boldly witness their faith to the world through word and deed.
Here at St. Michael Church, our 7th and 8th grade students receive the Sacrament of Confirmation every other year. They attend a special Program that provides catechesis for the reception of the Sacrament and they also attend a Retreat.
"Sponsors" for Confirmation are to be active Catholics, at least 16 years of age, and are to participate in a Sponsors Program either at St. Michael Church or at their own parish. The Sponsor will need to provide a letter from their pastor. It is preferred that the Sponsor be one of the student's Godparents. Parents do act in the role of Sponsor. A "proxy" sponsor can be chosen. If the family is new to the parish, a Sponsor can be appointed by the Pastor/Deacon.
Young people, young adults who have not been confirmed are asked to take part in the RCIA Program (under Faith Formation tab) or a specially arranged program.
Confirmation will take place at a date to be announced by the Bishop's office.
