90% of Life is Showing Up!
I am so grateful to God for the coming of some fall temperatures here on Tybee Island. I know that we will see some hot weather yet, but this is a very pleasant time, with cooler temperatures and fewer crowds.
I am also excited about the upcoming week of parish mission and evangelization the first week of October at St. Michael’s Church. Mother Olga and the Sisters of her community are delightful, and I am sure that all who come to any part of the week will be inspired and edified. There will be two things going on that week. The first thing will be the evangelization work of going through the neighborhoods and areas and knocking on people’s doors. The sisters will lead this effort but will need some parishioners to drive them to certain areas and to accompany them. We will need some volunteers for this.
The second part of the week will be the parish mission (or revival), which will happen each evening in the Church from 6:00-7:00 p.m., beginning Tuesday. Each night will be a different theme, but you will enjoy the Sister’s vocation stories, the healing service and the night of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and praise and worship music.
I hope that all of this work, prayer, learning and healing will culminate in a large crowd on the pier for the closing Mass of the mission, Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Our pier masses are always well attended, the ocean is beautiful, and people walk away very inspired.
Everything we do at St. Michael Catholic Church is directed straight to Jesus. We desire that every person truly comes to know Jesus personally, to love Him and to serve Him as they walk with Him all the way to Heaven! The whole world needs Jesus, and the Master’s departing words were “Go and make disciples of all the nations.” So, we will begin right here on Tybee Island.
Please put the schedule of our mission and evangelization week on your refrigerator and plan to attend as much as you can. As Woody Allen once said, “90% of life is showing up.”
