HOURS: Wednesday and Friday 10 am to 12 noon
St. Michael's Thrift Shop was started in the spring of 1981. The staff of volunteers accepts donated items only. All of the proceeds of the shop are to help persons on Tybee and needy causes on the Island or in Savannah. A donation is given to the Pastor to use for needy persons in the Parish. A monthly donation is given to the Social Apostolate in Savannah, we also supply needed items to the Social Apostolate, such as socks, underwear and jeans and in the winter, jackets, coats and blankets.
The Thrift Shop also donates baby furniture and clothing to Open Arms, Hope House and Greenbriar. We receive much more clothing than we can possibly use so we give our excess clothing and other items to the Salvation Army.
Everything in the shop has been donated and we have everything and anything you can possibly imagine. Clothing, shoes, hats, coats and jackets. Children's clothing and toys. We have paperback and hardback books, children's books, puzzles, and games, picture frames and pictures, paintings and posters. Household goods arrive almost daily, from flatware to china and glassware. Pots and pans and small electrical appliances. We have lamps, vases, artificial flowers and even antiques. Our linen closet is usually full of comforters, sheets and pillows. An assortment of jewelry is usually in our display case.
We supply anything needed, anonymously, to families or persons in need. We help people on a temporary basis to get them through an emergency situation.
To donate items, just drop them off when the Thrift Shop is open.
We are able to do all of these things because we have the most generous people living on Tybee Island and in St. Michael's Parish.
